I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to Morgan Precision Instruments, formerly known as Morgan Tool and Die. Morgan began making custom gauges in 1938. Located in Akron, OH (considered the rubber capital of the world at the time), Morgan naturally was focused on servicing the tire manufacturers and the tire mold shops in the area. Over the years, the tire manufacturers have left the Akron area; however, the tire mold shops and much of the tire technology has remained in Akron. Even though the tire manufacturers have moved, Morgan continues to provide custom gauging services and calibration services to the tire industry. Morgan provides dimensional gauging for Michelin Tire Co., Uniroyal/Goodrich Tire Co., The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., Bridgestone/ Firestone Tire Co., and Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. along with several smaller specialty tire companies and tire mold manufacturers. These are all long time, satisfied customers, a number of which specify that Morgan gauges must be used in production of their molds. In addition, Morgan has been selected as the sole manufacture of gauges for the Tire and Rim Association (TRA). These gauges are marketed through TRA and are used for checking rims. These gauges are used around the world for verifying rims against the published TRA standards. With the push for certification of companies against international standards, Morgan became certified to ISO 9002 in Oct.1999. Because of our dealing with QS certified companies and the fact that the timetable for QS to be phased out and replaced with the new TS standard, along with the nature of our business, we obtained accreditation to a laboratory standard. We chose to go with the newest standard ISO/IEC 17025 and were able to accomplish this in Nov. 2001 just shortly after this accreditation became available. Due to ISO 9002 being phased out, we changed to the new ISO 9001:2000 (without design) in April of 2003. Including our original implementation audit against ISO9002, we have only had 1 minor nonconformity found on our 3 rd party audits to date. We have been told by our auditors that this is extremely rare and we take great pride in this fact. Morgan Tool and Die changed its name to Morgan Precision Instruments in 2001 in order to more accurately reflect the true nature of its business. Although the majority of Morgan’s business is still related to the tire and rim industries we have expanded more into calibration services and provide this service to many area companies and have expanded into Contract Dimensional Inspection of parts. Morgan’s name is also becoming more known in other areas of manufacturing, for example, our gauging is being used by Harris Metals in producing the impellers used in transmissions for Caterpillar. At Morgan Precision Instruments we take great pride in the gauging we manufacture and the services we provide. Morgan’s Quality Goal is to meet our customer’s needs and expectations 100% of the time. This is only possible through continual improvement of our Quality and Production systems in conjunction with the use of 100% inspection (not sampling). We are confident that if given the opportunity to manufacture your gauges, you will find that although Morgan may not be the largest company to offer a quote our dedication to quality of product and service is what really sets us apart from our competition.
